The World of Poetry

Poetry Writing

Hey fellow educators! Let's dive into the fascinating world of poetry, a domain I recently examined, and boy, did it transform my teaching approach. Before this poetic adventure, my poetry lessons primarily revolved around rhyming words, but how things have changed!

So, let's rewind a bit. The first thing that struck me was the variety of features poetry has to offer. It's not just about rhyming; it's a whole realm of expression. My "aha" moment was realizing I could teach students a lot more than just matching words that sound identical.

I landed upon a treasure collection of activities and features that make poetry fascinating and engaging. Imagine educating children to create "I Am" pieces, a gorgeous method for them to investigate and express their identities.

Learning about these diverse features of poetry opened up a world of possibilities for my students and myself.

But here's the true game-change, I realized poetry isn't confined to Language Arts alone. Nope, it's a versatile companion that can meander through various subjects. Math, Science, Social Studies—you name it, poetry can find its place.

I went from rhyming words to investigating a kaleidoscope of poetic features and types and realising poetry's power to transcend subjects. Teaching isn't just about filling minds with information; it's about igniting a passion for expression.

So, fellow instructors, here I am, armed with newfound knowledge, ready to make my lessons resound with the enchantment of poetry. Let's transform our classrooms into havens of creativity where students don't just learn about poetry; they experience it, absorb it, and let it influence their worlds.
